What to Do for Your Pet When You’re out of Town

Although some places allow you to bring animals, traveling with your pets isn’t always an option. In these cases, you have to decide what to do with them while you’re out of town. Leaving your pets is always hard, but here are a few options on how to handle their care.

Board Them

One of the most popular choices people go with is a pet boarding and grooming business. Your dog or cat will stay in a kennel depending on their size. Dogs usually have the option of doing a social program during the day where they go out and play with the other dogs. This depends on what you are comfortable with though. An added benefit is that you can also have them groomed while staying there.

Ask for Help

If you have a low maintenance animal, you can ask your friends and neighbors for help. See if someone can come and check in a couple of times a day to let them out and make sure they have food and water. This can be a good option if you only plan to be gone for a couple of days.

Hire a Petsitter

If your pet requires a lot of care and attention, you may want to consider hiring someone to stay at your house while you’re gone. This allows your pet to be in the comfort of your home still while you’re gone. If you don’t need someone to stay overnight, you can just pay them to come as needed to take care of your animal’s needs.

Ask friends and family members for recommendations for places and people they’ve used before. Look around and make sure you’re comfortable with the option you choose. After all, you won’t be able to enjoy yourself while you’re away if you’re constantly worrying about your pets.
